No. 5 Rutgers women’s soccer defeated Saint Louis 4-0 on Friday night at Yurcak Field to advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015. The Scarlet Knights improved to 19-3-0 on the season and advanced in front of a home crowd totaling 1,682.
Big Ten Freshman of the Year and First Team All-Big Ten selection Riley Tiernan was the catalyst, as she assisted on the first goal and scored two goals of her own as well.
Less than five minutes into the action, the three leading scorers on the team came through on a beautiful play in transition.
