PISCATAWAY The Rutgers women’s basketball coaching staff has gone from familiar to first-day introductions.
Previously one of the most cohesive staffs in the nation, Rutgers has replaced all three of its full-time assistants this offseason following the announcement Thursday that Tim Eatman is taking over for Tasha Pointer after the former Rutgers star spent eight seasons at her alma mater.
Tia Jackson (Miami) and Chelsea Newton (Georgia) left the program in May and Rutgers announced that its longest-tenured assistant, Pointer, “stepped down to pursue other opportunities.” It is unusual for a program to undergo such a thorough overhaul without a corresponding head coaching change.
