Due to health reasons, head coach C. Vivian Stringer is taking a leave of absence from coaching the Rutgers women’s basketball team, the school announced on Sunday.
Stringer missed Thursday’s game at Michigan, which the team lost 86-76. Assistant coach Tim Eatman will take over the team as acting head coach with the hope of Stringer returning following the Big Ten Tournament. Hopefully, that will mean this season as Rutgers (18-8; 10-5) is in third place in the Big Ten and currently projected to make the NCAA Tournament.
“As you can imagine this was not an easy decision, however, in consultation with my doctors, it is in my best interest to spend time to get healthy before returning to the day-to-day grind of coaching,” said Stringer.
