Rutgers to hire Karl Hobbs as associate head coach under Steve Pikiell

Rutgers will hire University of Connecticut assistant coach Karl Hobbs to be the team's associate head coach under Steve Pikiell, a source with knowledge of the situation told NJ Advance Media on Thursday.

The news was first reported by HoopsDreamMag.com.

Hobbs was named the head coach at George Washington in 2001 and spent 10 seasons leading the Colonials, with Pikiell spending time on his staff as an assistant from 2001 to 2005. The team won the Atlantic 10 Tournament in 2005 and 2007, as well as the regular season championship in 2006 with Hobbs earning A-10 Coach of the Year honors.
