Rutgers Scarlet Knights quarterback Chris Laviano and star receiver Leonte Carroo will both be suspended for the first half of the team’s season opener against Norfolk State on Sept. 5 due to a curfew violation.
ESPN’s Joe Schad reported the suspensions, which were also doled out to linebacker Kevin Marquez, punter Tim Gleeson and cornerback Ruhann Peele for the same amount of time.
This means that in Laviano’s absence, Hayden Rettig will start at quarterback in the first half. A former four-star recruit out of Cathedral High School in Los Angeles, Rettig sat out last season after transferring from LSU.
