Kyle Flood is about to miss the final game on his school-issued three-game suspension for impermissible contact with a faculty member, but the self-initiated investigation into whether Rutgers football program has committed any NCAA rules violations is still ongoing.
In a public letter to the Rutgers community following Flood’s suspension on Sept. 16, school president Robert Barchi said outside counsel was retained to determine if any NCAA bylaws were violated when the football coach contacted a teacher to inquire about the process for changing the grade of a player known to be in danger of being ruled academically ineligible.
