The first signs of trouble came on a hot day in Lawrence, Kansas, in a game that most Rutgers fans had chalked up as a W as soon as the schedule came out.
But a pair of pick-six interceptions spotted the Jayhawks a 17-point lead early in the second quarter, and very suddenly, all of the expectations that the Scarlet Knights would take a step forward in the third year under Chris Ash were thrown out the window.
"I didn't see this coming against these guys because they are a very talent-rich football team and I've said so many times how good of a coach Chris Ash is," Kansas coach David Beaty when the 55-14 blowout was in the books.
