In an effort to have more roster flexibility, the Big Ten implemented a rule to allow teams to travel with four additional players on road games this fall. In past seasons, Big Ten teams could travel with 70 players.
Now, it's 74 players on road trips.
"They just increased it,'' Rutgers coach Chris Ash said. "With the new redshirt rule, somebody made a proposal to increase the number of players that you can travel, which makes sense. They quickly made an amendment right before Week 1.''
Still, Ash conceded it's not always easy to choose the roster.
