PISCATAWAY – Once Rutgers president Robert Barchi had the thorough details of the school investigation into football coach Kyle Flood in his hands, he still had a difficult call to make.
Flood violated a Rutgers athletics compliance policy that prohibits coach-initiated contact with a faculty member regarding a student-athlete’s grade — but that has no specific penalty attached to it.
And there are few if any similar cases across the NCAA for comparing notes.
