Rutgers finally has a defensive lineman in the fold for 2019.
Three-star defensive tackle Malachi Burby committed to the Scarlet Knights on Friday, becoming the 12th pledge in a recruiting class that has experienced some tumult during the program's 1-7 start to the current season.
Burby took an official visit to Rutgers for last weekend's loss to Northwestern. The Cheshire (Conn.) Academy product told NJ Advance Media that Rutgers was his "No. 1 school" after the visit. Burby also had offers from UConn, Syracuse, Temple, Wake Forest and several other FBS and FCS programs, according to 247 Sports.
