PISCATAWAY — Pending approval by the university's Board of Governors on Monday, Chris Ash will be the next Rutgers football head coach, a top school official told NJ Advance Media, confirming published reports from earlier Saturday afternoon.
"We have a Board process to follow, but, yes, we have a coach,'' the top school official said, requesting anonymity until it becomes approved formally by the school's governing board.
Rutgers Athletics Director Pat Hobbs, attending the men's basketball game against Seton Hall on Saturday, declined comment when approached by two reporters at halftime.
Ash, the 41-year-old defensive coordinator at Ohio State, is expected to be introduced at a news conference Monday afternoon.
