The Rutgers men’s soccer team opened Big Ten play on Friday night with a massive statement victory. The Scarlet Knights defeated No. 11 Indiana (3-2-1; 0-1-0) on the road in come from behind fashion for the 2-1 victory. It was the first ranked win for the program since 2015 when they beat No. 18 Ohio State. The Hoosiers are the defending Big Ten champions and lost in the NCAA Tournament championship game last spring. Friday’s triumph marks the biggest victory of Jim McElderry’s tenure through two-plus seasons at Rutgers so far.
Daniel Munie scored his second goal of the season to put Indiana ahead 1-0 in the 23rd minute of the game.
