Rutgers, Maryland dip into Ohio State, Maryland success for new coaches

PISCATAWAY – As if joining the Big Ten together as part of non-traditional eastern expansion wasn’t reason enough to always measure the Rutgers and Maryland football programs against one another, the two schools just gave you another.

Rutgers and Maryland filled their head coach vacancies last week by plucking the defensive coordinators from both sides of the Big Ten’s biggest rivalry.

Rutgers tabbed Ohio State’s Chris Ash, while Maryland chose Michigan’s D.J. Durkin.
