When the NCAA men's lacrosse Tournament field is announced Sunday night, odds are Rutgers will find itself on the outside looking in yet again.
The No. 11 Scarlet Knights fell to No. 2 Maryland, 12-9, on Thursday afternoon in the Big Ten Tournament semifinal round in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The defeat will likely end Rutgers' season at 9-6, a third straight campaign falling agonizingly short of the high expectations the team had.
Rutgers was snubbed in 2016, but couldn't get over the hump and do enough to earn a bid 2017 after rising to a No. 1 ranking at one point during the season.
