PISCATAWAY -- And the Rutgers men's lacrosse team thought last year was heartbreaking.
For the second straight season, No. 12 Rutgers was snubbed by the NCAA Tournament selection committee -- but Sunday's pain might have actually hurt worse than it did 12 months earlier because this fall was from a higher perch.
One year ago, Rutgers, with a program-record-tying 11 wins, finished as the runner-up in the Big Ten Tournament but the conference's two berths went to Maryland and Johns Hopkins even though Rutgers beat Johns Hopkins twice.
At the time, It felt like Rutgers was unjustly wronged after doing everything it could to secure its first NCAA Tournament since 2003.
