There are many reasons why Rutgers is 1-5 at midseason.
The Scarlet Knights' knack for giving up big play after big play on defense is near the top of the heap. That certainly was a critical issue in last Saturday's 38-17 loss to Illinois. But head coach Chris Ash had an interesting spin when discussing the ongoing big play woes earlier this week.
"We played 62 snaps in that game (against Illinois) and in those 62 snaps, we gave up 419 yards. The unfortunate thing, 207 of them came on four plays," Ash said.
