The old and new guards of Rutgers track and field collided at the 2016 Big Ten Outdoor Championships and the result was four gold medals.
Corey Crawford (long jump), Christopher Mirabelli (javelin) and Izaiah Brown (400 meters) captured Big Ten titles for the men’s team, while Gabrielle Farquharson (100 meters) won one on the women’s side. The conference championships were held Saturday and Sunday in Lincoln, Neb.
“I was more excited about us taking a step in the Big Ten than my individual winnings,” Mirabelli said after the Rutgers men finished ninth, up from 11th a year ago.
