'Rutgers is the 1st to do this' | How RU officials staged the Big Ten Gymnastics Championships

PISCATAWAY -- When he's not at the Livingston Recreation Center mentoring his Rutgers gymnastics team, Louis Levine spends a lot of time at football and basketball games as a Scarlet Knights fan.

The Rutgers gymnastics coach knows the athletics program has taken its lumps through the years for the lack of state-of-the-art facilities. But when it came time to host a Big Ten championship event last week, Levine says Rutgers deserves widespread praise for staging the conference's gymnastics meet at the Rutgers Athletic Center.

"A lot of time they talk about some (facilities issues) in maybe not the most positive light,'' Levine said.
