Rutgers has safety depth concerns, and a plan to address them: 'We can develop those guys'

Rutgers knows it's thin at safety this spring, but there is a plan.

It will just take a few more weeks to implement.

K.J. Gray and Saquan Hampton are entrenched as the Scarlet Knights' starters, but there are a slew of questions after that. Kiy Hester is no longer in the program and Jawuan Harris' football future is very much in doubt, leaving little depth behind the starters - an issue considering Gray and Hampton have missed a combine 13 games the past two seasons.

Rutgers could start plucking cornerbacks from that deep position group and moving them over, and to some extent it already has.
