PISCATAWAY — That unusual noise in the Piscataway area near Rutgers' Livingston Campus on Wednesday morning was the sound of shoulder pads colliding.
Or, you know, the sound of football once again.
Day 3 of Rutgers football camp will see the players don shoulder pads for the first time, which should equate to more contact than the first two training-camp sessions.
It will mark the third session of a 29-practice preseason camp, and the second of six open for the media.
After the 105 players in camp continue the installation phase of camp on the fields adjacent to the Rutgers Athletic Center, they will travel by bus back to the Hale Center, where head coach Chris Ash, defensive coordinator Jay Neimann and select linebackers will be available for interviews.
