MADISON, Wisc. – With the Rutgers secondary under fire from opposing quarterbacks and critics alike, coach Kyle Flood promised better days ahead as the learning curve lessened.
“I see a lot of young players that are going to be good football players,” Flood said. “How fast that will happen, I don’t know that. We’re certainly working to make that sooner than later. Now we have more of them that (are) young playing at the same time than we’ve ever had.”
Those were Flood’s words on Oct. 28, 2013, coming off a three-game stretch in which Rutgers went 1-2 despite allowing a total of 125 points and 1,630 yards.
