PISCATAWAY – If Rutgers fires all nine of its football assistant coaches following a change at the top, it could be on the hook for about $3.3 million, according to a Gannett New Jersey review of the contracts.
New Rutgers head coach Chris Ash indicated Monday that he would meet immediately with all the holdovers from the Kyle Flood regime to see if any aligned with his vision. It is typical for coaching staffs to be entirely or almost entirely overhauled after a head coach is fired, as Flood was on Nov. 29.
Ash, who signed a five-year contract worth $11 million with a $2 million starting base salary, has a pool of $2.
