PISCATAWAY – In an alternate universe, Kyle Flood is a happy high school math teacher.
He coaches Little League for his oldest son, claps loudly in the audience at his daughter’s national dance competitions, and makes breakfast for dinner when his wife Amy leaves him alone with their three children.
If time allows, he will swap out his specialty — pancakes and eggs — for chicken parmigiana with a homemade touch.
“I can make my own sauce,” Flood said, “but I haven’t in a long time. Not in the last four years.”
Not quite four years ago, Flood — who spent his first four years after college teaching algebra and trigonometry at his high school alma mater — took the demanding job of Rutgers football head coach.
