Rutgers will renew another lapsed regional rivalry.
The Scarlet Knights have signed a one-game contract with Delaware to finalize their 2021 football schedule, two school officials told NJ Advance Media. They were granted anonymity because the deal has not yet been announced.
The game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 18 at HighPoint.com Stadium in Piscataway. It will be the first meeting between Delaware and Rutgers since 1973. The Scarlet Knights lead the all-time series, 15-13-3. The agreement comes five weeks after Rutgers added Monmouth to round out its 2020 schedule.
The Blue Hens are one of the best Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) programs in the country and have been to three national title games in the last 15 years.
