On Tuesday, Rutgers field hockey sophomore midfielder Daphne Groothuis was named a Second Team All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. She becomes the second Rutgers female athlete to do so this fall, joining women’s soccer sophomore forward Amirah Ali, who was named a Second Team All-American last week.
Groothuis had a landmark season for the Scarlet Knights, leading the team with 12 goals, 13 assists and 37 points. An All-Big Ten First Team selection, she tied for the conference lead in assists and was tied for fourth in Division I as well.
