Rutgers had the perfect opportunity to end an epic streak.
Feshman point guard Corey Sanders stepped to the free throw line with three seconds left in regulation in Wednesday night's game against Illinois at the RAC. Trailing 75-74, Sanders made the first foul shot to tie the score. But his second shot clanged off the back of the rim, sending the game into overtime.
Sanders made up for the missed free throw with an incredible tying 3-pointer at the buzzer of the first overtime. The teams remained even after the second overtime before Illinois pulled away in the third extra session for a 110-101 win.
