WASHINGTON -- Rutgers lived up to the billing as one of the nation's best rebounding teams. And by dominating the backboards in a 66-57 triumph over Ohio State on Wednesday night, the Scarlet Knights live for another day in the Big Ten Tournament.
A Rutgers team that arrived in the nation's capital ranking third nationally in offensive-rebounds-per-game (14.6) and 10th overall in rebounding (40.4) flexed its muscles in both categories.
The 14th-seeded Scarlet Knights overcame a 37.1 shooting percentage by holding a whopping 47-31 advantage on the boards -- including a 19-7 edge in offensive rebounds -- and produced a 30-18 edge in second-chance points.
