Rutgers baseball takes opener, falls in middle game to Michigan

Rutgers baseball welcomed first place and 13th ranked Michigan to Bainton Field for a series crucial to the Scarlet Knights postseason hopes.

Friday: Rutgers 15, Michigan 9

John O’Reilly got the start and was rudely greeted by the Wolverines three runs in the top of the first. The Scarlet Knights wasted no time in answering to tie the game in the bottom half. After that it was a see saw battle with Michigan going up 4-3 in the third, but Rutgers responding to take a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the frame on Chris Folinusz’s second RBI hit of the game.
