Rutgers baseball could have as many, or more, wins as it did last season by the end of the weekend. And if the Scarlet Knights have managed to surpass last year’s total by the time they get home Sunday, they’ll also have bagged their biggest series win in a long time.
Rutgers will see its biggest test to date in Big Ten play with a three-game set at nationally-ranked Illinois starting Friday night at 7 p.m.
“It’s definitely a statement weekend,” first baseman Chris Folinusz said. “We’re going out and trying to win every Big Ten series, but they’re one of the better opponents we’ve faced so far.
