NEW BRUNSWICK – It’s been almost 30 years since a completely new athletics structure sprouted on the Rutgers campus, but the school now at least has a new wish list for what it would like to add.
Rutgers unveiled Thursday the basics of a plan – with the conspicuous absence of any financial details or timeline for construction – to build a multi-sports facility complete with separate practice courts for the men’s and women’s basketball teams.
It was approved Thursday by the Board of Governors.
The secondary arena – a staple of Big Ten programs – would be housed on top of a parking garage adjacent to the 38-year-old Louis Brown Athletic Center and the recently opened $85 million Rutgers Business School on Busch Campus.
