In a long-awaited statement delivered to the Rutgers community, university President Robert Barchi announced that he had fired Scarlet Knights football coach Kyle Flood and athletics director Julie Hermann.
The statement, headlined, "Change in Athletics at Rutgers-New Brunswick,'' went out to the media at 2:36 p.m. and confirmed previous published reports by NJ Advance Media that both Flood and Hermann had been fired and that Patrick Hobbs, a dean emeritus at the Seton Hall School of Law, would be taking over as permanent AD.
