The Rutgers staff has added a quarterback to the 2018 recruiting class with the commitment of Jalen Chatman. There was a lot of speculation on whether Chatman would commit after his visit to campus. Today, the California signal caller made his intentions known via twitter.
Chatman selected the Scarlet Knights out of offers from Southern Utah, Portland state, Army, Navy, Tulane, Howard, and Montana State. Although Oregon State and UCLA were showing interest, Rutgers was the first Power 5 school to make the offer to the Harbor City (CA) signal caller. In the end, it might have been the relationship that Chatman forged with the Rutgers coaching staff and the need at quarterback that caused him to select Rutgers.
