NEW BRUNSWICK Former Rutgers football players charged in a series of three armed home-invasion robberies this spring in this city and on the university’s Piscataway campus took “trophy” pictures of their drug and cash loot and left a trail of incriminating text messages — and even a fingerprint — a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Three of the charged — Andre Boggs, 20, who was kicked off the team after his arrest, former player Tejay Johnson, 23, and Rutgers student Jianan Chen, 19 — made court appearances Wednesday in Superior Court in New Brunswick. Their attorneys entered not guilty pleas on their behalf and called the six-figure bails excessive.
