No. 5 Rutgers field hockey earned an impressive road win on Friday in Happy Valley against No. 4 Penn State. The 1-0 victory was the Scarlet Knights eighth ranked win of the season, a program record. Six of those wins have come on the road, including three against top ten foes and two against top five teams.
After a scoreless first half, Rachel Houston scored three minutes into the third quarter to give Rutgers the 1-0 lead. It was a huge momentum shift and the defense held strong the rest of the way. PSU had three corners in the final minute of the game but were shut down.
