The no. 17 ranked Rutgers women’s soccer team picked up its biggest win of the season so far on Thursday night, defeating no. 11 Tennessee 1-0 in front of at Yurcak Field.
Senior Brittany LaPlant scored the game winner in the 47th minute off a pass from Nneke Moneme.
The visiting Vols made a strong final push in the game in which they had two corners in the last few minutes, but Rutgers held up for the victory. RU outshot Tennessee 15-7 on the night, but the SEC squad held a 5-3 advantage on corners.
The Scarlet Knights moved to 3-0 on the season after producing a big victory in non-conference play.
