ST. LOUIS -- Nick Suriano's first national title run is over before it started.
The Penn State star true freshman will not compete in the NCAA Championships due to his ankle injury, the school announced Wednesday afternoon after the team practiced at the Scottrade Center.
Suriano was spotted in baggy sweatpants, a warm-up top and a light blue ski cap during the team's morning workout. He had on black sneakers, not wrestling shoes.
It's a disappointing end to a dominant year for Suriano, who was 17-1 before injuring his ankle in the final dual meet of the season against Oklahoma State.
