Nick Suriano 1st Rutgers wrestler to win prestigious Midlands Championships title

Nick Suriano isn't waiting until March to create breakthroughs for Rutgers.

Suriano lived up to his No. 1 seed and became the first Rutgers wrestler to win his weight class at the prestigious two-day Midlands Championships in Hoffman Estates, Ill. The 125-pounder was Rutgers' first finalist in the 55th annual tournament since Mario Mason in 2011.

Scott DelVecchio (133), John Van Brill (157) and Richie Lewis (165) all took third place in their weight classes as Rutgers finished second in the team standings behind only Iowa.
