The Super Bowl hopes of three Rutgers alums on the Cincinnati Bengals came to an end on Saturday as the result of self-destructive actions by their teammates.
When Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict intercepted Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Landry Jones with less than two minutes remaining in Saturday night's AFC Wild Card matchup, it appeared that the Bengals had sealed the win.
But a fumble by running back Jeremy Hill and a meltdown of personal fouls by Burfict and cornerback Adam Jones on the ensuing Steelers possession led to a game-winning field goal that gave Pittsburgh an improbable 18-16 victory.
