PISCATAWAY — Forget for a moment that Rutgers played City College of New York in its official season opener. That game against a Division III foe doesn't count in the RPI standings, a key formula that the selection committees uses to determine both the NCAA Tournament and NIT fields.
So even though Rutgers got credit for the win and the statistics count in the school's record books, that 56-point rout doesn't really count in the grand scheme of things.

So count Sunday's game against Central Connecticut State as Rutgers' first test of the season.
