The plan for Matt Correnti last season was pretty clear.
After the former state champion and Holy Cross alum finished off a solid true freshman season at 197 pounds that culminated in a trip to the 2017 NCAA Championships, Correnti would redshirt, put on weight and return this year as a budding heavyweight for the Rutgers wrestling team.
But a couple things happened on the way to Correnti's next step as a Scarlet Knight wrestler.
First, Correnti had trouble putting on the weight to become the 240-250 pound athlete he would need to be in order to compete with opponents weighing 270-280 pounds.
