CHICAGO -- Lucas Giolito threw the shortened season's first no-hitter Tuesday night, as the surprising Chicago White Sox kept making headlines in their 4-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Giolito struck out 12 Pirates and walked just one, en route to his first no-hitter and his third win of the season for Chicago, which has won eight of the last nine games.
It's indeed been a fun run for the White Sox of late, even before the no-hitter. On Sunday, in a win over the cross-town rival Cubs, White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu tied a major league record, when he homered in his first at-bat, marking his fourth straight plate appearance with a home run and sixth homer in the series.
