Kyle Flood, Rutgers football players find personal connections to Special Olympics

EWING – Having grown up with a sister who competed in the Special Olympics, Kyle Flood didn’t need any more proof of the lasting power of the games.

Caitlin Ramirez gave it to him anyway.

The Rutgers football coach recently was at an event in his hometown of Middlesex when he spotted Ramirez, a Special Olympian who he has seen grow up because her brother plays baseball against Flood’s oldest son.

“She had her medals on and you see how proud she was to wear her medals at an event like that,” Flood said. “It doesn’t end today.
