PISCATAWAY – When Hayden Rettig played the fourth quarter of the blowout loss to No. 1 Ohio State last weekend, it was a chance for Rutgers backup quarterback to gain some valuable experience.
Nothing more.
To the chagrin of a vocal portion of the fan base, coach Kyle Flood wasn’t toying with an in-game rotation of Rettig and starter Chris Laviano and he certainly wasn’t starting a quarterback controversy.
