Johnathan Lewis arrived at Rutgers in 2017 as one of the most ballyhooed quarterback recruits in program history.
But the sophomore out of St. Peter's Prep has been beaten out in open-quarterback competitions the past two summers.
While the 6-3, 237-pounder remains listed as the co-backup QB, Lewis is seeing the field at a position few Rutgers fans would've expected heading into Saturday's Big Ten clash against Illinois.
Lewis is playing tight end.
The move makes sense for several reasons. For one, true freshman Art Sitkowski appears entrenched as the starting QB despite some early-season struggles.
