Eleazar DeLuca had a simple explanation for the big throw he landed to stun Ohio State's Ke-Shawn Hayes
"It was there, because I made it there," DeLuca said after his 12-7 upset of Hayes, the nation's fifth-ranked 149-pounder, marked No. 17 Rutgers' high point in Sunday's 29-11 loss to the No. 2 Buckeyes at the RAC in Piscataway. "I put myself in that position, to throw. That's what I do."
DeLuca had to do plenty of work to get into position, though. Hayes dominated the first two periods of their bout, riding out DeLuca for the entirety of the second to stake a 4-0 lead with a riding point in his back pocket.
