PISCATAWAY -- When Chris Laviano drove fellow Rutgers quarterback Zach Allen to the airport last week, he wasn't ridding himself of his biggest competition.
It simply was one friend helping out another, which might not seem strange against any backdrop other than the harsh truth that one's on-field success means the other will be disappointed -- as is the case in any two-way battle for one starting position.
"We do everything together," Allen said. "He actually took me to the airport before camp started. We like each other. We know it's a competition and the best guy is going to win.
