Rutgers didn’t pay for a commercial to air during the Fiesta Bowl, but the football program got free advertising on one of the best sports days of the year.
New Rutgers football coach Chris Ash’s two-year tenure as Ohio State’s co-defensive coordinator and primary play-caller officially ended Friday with a 44-28 victory against Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl.
Since being hired on Dec. 7, Ash, who will be full-go in Piscataway next week, has been pulling double duty – a decision he made out of loyalty to his mentor Urban Meyer but one that also offered a priceless benefit to Rutgers as it tries to re-brand its national image.
