Artur Sitkowski’s victory in Rutgers’ quarterback race has been predicted by most since the spring.
But just because something has been expected since April doesn’t mean it was a foregone conclusion in August, head coach Chris Ash and offensive coordinator John McNulty said Monday.
“I don’t think we pre-determined it,” McNulty said. “It went right down to the wire, legitimately. … It was a good competition.”
Sitkowski, a true freshman, beat out incumbent starter and redshirt senior Gio Rescigno and sophomore Johnathan Lewis to get the start on Saturday in the Scarlet Knights’ season opener against Texas State at HighPoint.
