Here's why a 2016 Olympian will be competing for Rutgers after winning an NCAA title this year

From the moment Rudy Winkler arrives at Rutgers to compete with the men's track and field program in early 2017, the recently graduated Cornell University product will be the most accomplished athlete on campus.

After all, Winkler will be the only Rutgers athlete who competed in the 2016 Olympics with an NCAA title on his resume.

A two-time First-team All-American who won the NCAA championship in the Hammer Throw last June, Winkler competed in 2016 Rio Games in the same event.

Winkler is joining the Rutgers men's track and field program as a grad transfer.
