Kojac, a 1931 Rutgers graduate who learned to swim in the East River while growing up in New York, set a world record in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:08.2. But that wasn't his only moment atop the medal stand in Amsterdam in 1928.

Kojac won a second gold medal as a member of the winning U.S. team in the 4x200 freestyle relay, setting a world record with teammates Austin Clapp, Walter Laufer and Johnny Weissmuller.
